Wildlife abounds in this diverse habitat, providing opportunities for birdwatching and spotting native species. After a day of hiking, visitors can unwind in cozy pubs and sample local delicacies, making each holiday a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Whether you’re seeking a short hike or an extended trek, the Yorkshire Dales National Park delivers an unforgettable experience steeped in natural beauty and rich heritage.

Our walks are focused on the western side of the Yorkshire Dales, based in the small market town of Settle. Its origins can be traced back to the 7th century when the Angles moved there from the west. The town's development, however, didn’t really happen until 1249 when Henry VIII granted the market charter to the town. The town later became a key hub for farming and quarrying, and its significance grew with the construction of the Settle to Carlisle railway in the late 19th century.

Nowadays, it is a vibrant little town with some lovely shops, cafes, and pubs, and is an ideal base for walking!

The reason the Yorkshire Dales have become such a great destination for walking is due to the landscape. Different layers of sedimentary rock formed over 300 million years ago, carved by ice age glaciers, and then eroded by rivers and rainfall have created the landscape we see today. Limestone pavement with its clints and grykes, caves and potholes, huge peaks made from the more resistant gritstone, and deep valleys creating the dales themselves.

Our walks show you the best the Dales have to offer.

Afternoon walk:-

Settle Circuit

7 km, 300m ascent/descent

A nice little introduction to the dales, taking in a few crags and caves with a nice overlook over Settle itself

Day 2

Ingleborough Circuit - 15km 500m ascent/descent - 6/7hrs

Transfer to Ribbleshead 20mins

This walk starts from the Ribblehead viaduct, a piece of spectacular Victorian engineering. Built between 1869 and 1874 on the Settle to Carlisle railway, its 24 arches span 400m across the valley. The walk continues under the viaduct along the valley floor before the climbing starts up to the summit of Ingleborough, one of Yorkshire's three major peaks.

We descend off the other side through a beautiful section of limestone pavement before arriving in Horton in Ribblesdale, where our lift back to Settle awaits.

Day 3

Settle - Malham Cove - Settle - 16km 570m ascent/descent - 6/7hrs

Starting from Settle we climb onto the moor tops and follow a wonderful footpath under several ‘scars’ dotted with caves and a lovely view of Malham tarn. We then drop towards Malham and take in some amazing limestone pavement above Malham Cove, where scenes from Harry Potter were filmed. Then onto Gordale Scar, a huge waterfall in a hidden gorge, Janet's Foss, a smaller waterfall but just as beautiful, and onto Malham village. We then take in the spectacle that is Malham Gorge, a 70m high dried up waterfall, before returning to Settle.

Day 4

Clapham - Settle - 14km 475m ascent/descent - 5/6hrs

Transfer to Clapham 15mins

This walk starts in the small village of Clapham and follows ancient ways linking the villages of Austwick, Feizor and Stainforth where we pass another beautiful waterfall. We then head south following the River Ribble back to Settle.
